Why Synthetic nicotine?

Why Synthetic nicotine?

Before we get into why some e-liquid companies have decided to switch to synthetic nicotine here is a little about synthetic nicotine.

(Synthetic Nicotine) or "Tobacco Free Nicotine" is not derived from tobacco leaf, stem, reconstituted sheet, expanded or post-production waste dust. The nicotine is made using a patented manufacturing process that begins with a natural starter material, and progressively builds around the molecules of that material to create a pure synthetic nicotine. Almost all E-cig/Vaping brands and e-liquids use tobacco derived nicotine. Synthetic Nicotine is devoid of many of the residual impurities that tobacco derived nicotine contains. Most important for adult consumers, Synthetic Nicotine is virtually tasteless and odorless, dramatically improving e-juice flavors, while importantly providing the same satisfaction smokers are seeking from their nicotine. With Synthetic Nicotine, there is no need to mask the off-flavor and aroma of tobacco-based nicotine. Synthetic Nicotine allows manufacturers or crafted vape liquids to make a truly tobacco free vaping product!

Now that that’s out of the way! Let's talk about the real reason e-liquid companies are making the switch. In 2016, tobacco derived nicotine was placed into the tobacco category and all of the e-liquid companies were now a part of the tobacco industry. You may say “so what” well that's one of the biggest issues e-liquid companies are facing in 2020. As a tobacco company e-liquid makers / marketers would have to adhere to the laws and regulations already placed on the tobacco industry, and if you ask yourself this question! Have you heard of or known of any new tobacco companies within the last decade or so gain pre market approval from the FDA? The answer for me is “ I really don't know” and if they had it was a long hard expensive process that took years upon years to obtain. With that being said this brings us to another problem, when it comes to people that use vaping as a way to stop lighting up to get the nicotine that they have become addicted to, they need to explore other options to keep them on their vaping path. These options have been a wide variety of flavors, and without the innovation and creativity of e-liquid makers that work hard on creating unique flavors this might result in a reversion back to lighting up. simply said “They get bored”. This brings us to the question in hand. Why synthetic nicotine? Synthetic nicotine is not a tobacco product or anything close to a tobacco product and thus not governed as a tobacco product so the current laws that govern the sale of tobacco do not apply to a non tobacco product. This will keep innovation and creation of e-liquid and e-liquid devices going strong enough to satisfy current vaping customers and also help move people away from lighting up.
